Land Data Acquisition

Land Gravity and Magnetics have been used for more than 60 years in Oil & Gas exploration. Still, under the right conditions data acquired on the ground can achieve the best resolution and accuracy for Gravity and Magnetics.

Land Acquisition

For Gravity Fugro Ground Geophysics uses both Scintrex (CG-3 and CG-3M) and LaCoste & Romberg (Model G) gravity meters for surveys, depending on the specific requirements.

For Magnetic data acquisition Fugro uses Geometrics G-856 or G-858 (Cesium Vapor) magnetometers with sensitivities ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 nT.

 

Positioning for gravity surveys is exclusively done with geodetic grade dual frequency GPS receivers, with the operational mode changing to suit the parameters of the survey. Surveys at close station spacing are generally performed using Real Time Kinematic (RTK) systems, with accurate results available instantly, while surveys over larger spacing (i.e. from 250m up to 4km) are post-processed due to the longer baselines.

 

 

 

Data Processing

Fugro Ground Geophysics also provides high quality, cost effective processing services for mineral and oil and gas exploration. Vintage Gravity data can be re-processed for Quality Control purposes and merged with recently acquired data to be prepared for interpretation and integration with other geophysical and geological data.
